About Our Vineyard

At Cable Bay Vineyards, our vision is to hand-craft wines using the highest quality fruit from small lot, premium sites and to offer our visitors the ultimate vineyard experience. Here you’ll find a relaxing place to enjoy our elegant wines and award-winning cuisine from two on-site restaurants, whilst you soak in the stunning views and sunsets of our uniquely beautiful setting

Enjoy fine food in the Dining Room or enjoy a more relaxed experience in the Verandah which serves small plates matched with Cable Bay and other fine wines.  Only 35 minutes from downtown Auckland by ferry, and 5 minutes from Matiatia by car.

 

Wine Tasting

The Tasting Room is open from 11am to 5pm, 7 days a week. Tastings cost $10.

Cable Bay Vineyards is dedicated to producing hand-crafted New Zealand wines known for their subtlety, elegance and depth. Taking an old world approach and combining it with new world techniques, Cable Bay’s opulent wines are a stylish reflection of the land where they began.

Having a portfolio of vineyards provides a range of fruit with different attributes, giving robustness while reducing the risks normally associated with single sites. The winemaking process focuses on small lot winemaking to handle the separate parcels of fruit from the various vineyards. This results in wines with their own ‘personality’.

We then use these small lots to create the final product and achieve our goal of balanced harmonious wines with layers of flavour and interest. We employ traditional winemaking techniques such as hand harvesting, whole bunch pressing, hand plunged red fermentations and barrel aging.

THE DINING ROOM 

Luxurious and elegant, our multi award-winning restaurant uses the freshest seasonal produce from our organic kitchen gardens and orchard every day. Our talented chefs take inspiration from Waiheke’sterroir, our elegant wines and Auckland’s flourishing food culture to create modern New Zealand cuisine that is all about balance. Choose between our main Dining Room or beautiful private rooms to sample the finest flavours from our ever-changing menus.

THE VERANDAH

Casual and contemporary, the Verandah is an irresistible place to while away a few hours in style. Nestled amongst our vineyards and olive trees, the outdoor terrace and lawn area frame the stunning views across the Hauraki Gulf to Auckland city. You can enjoy it whatever the weather in our sheltered seating area, and if you’re looking for somewhere to stretch out and relax, grab a beanbag on the lawn. Offering a menu of sharing plates, slow-roasted meats and pizzas from our outdoor kitchen with wood-fire oven, you are guaranteed to find something to tempt you.
