About Our Vineyard

Renowned for award-winning wines and breathtaking sea views, Cable Bay Vineyards is a Waiheke must-see.  Our vision is to hand-craft wines using the highest quality fruit from a small lot, premium sites and to offer our visitors the ultimate vineyard experience.  Here you’ll find a relaxing place to enjoy our award-winning wines and exceptional cuisine from two on-site restaurants, whilst you soak in the stunning views and sunsets of our uniquely beautiful setting. Enjoy Mediterranean inspired sharing plates in the Verandah restaurant and vibrant sharing dishes showcasing seasonal produce in the Bistro. Only 35 minutes from downtown Auckland by ferry, and 5 minutes from Matiatia by car.

 

Wine Tasting

The Tasting Room is open from 11am to 5pm, 7 days a week. Tastings cost $10.

Cable Bay Vineyards is dedicated to producing hand-crafted New Zealand wines known for their subtlety, elegance and depth. Taking an old world approach and combining it with new world techniques, Cable Bay’s opulent wines are a stylish reflection of the land where they began.

Having a portfolio of vineyards provides a range of fruit with different attributes, giving robustness while reducing the risks normally associated with single sites. The winemaking process focuses on small lot winemaking to handle the separate parcels of fruit from the various vineyards. This results in wines with their own ‘personality’.

We then use these small lots to create the final product and achieve our goal of balanced harmonious wines with layers of flavour and interest. We employ traditional winemaking techniques such as hand harvesting, whole bunch pressing, hand plunged red fermentations and barrel aging.

 

Restaurant

THE BISTRO

Elegant yet relaxed, our award-winning bistro has large windows that open out to stunning views. With pendant atmospheric lighting and pale wooden tables, the room embodies minimalist elegance. A crackling fire-place creates a cozy haven in winter and the large folding doors open out onto the lawn during summer with outdoor dining available on the patio under umbrellas. Offering a sharing-style cuisine, our Head Chef has created dishes that are fresh, vibrant and beautifully plated showcasing seasonal produce.

THE VERANDAH

Casual and contemporary, the Verandah is an irresistible place to enjoy a few hours in style, luxury and comfort. Nestled amongst our vineyards and olive trees, the huge windows frame the stunning views across the Hauraki Gulf to Auckland city. The soft ceiling drapes contrast beautifully with sleek, white marble tables, and this modern space has a refreshing indoor-outdoor flow with sliding screens that open up looking out over the lawn. Offering a Mediterranean-inspired menu of sharing plates, slow-roasted meats and pizzas from our outdoor kitchen with wood-fired oven, you are guaranteed to find something to tempt you.

Cable Bay villa & luxury studio guesthouse

Nestled amongst established gardens, olive trees and fruit orchards with sweeping views towards Matiatia Bay, the Cable Bay Villa is a peaceful sanctuary just a few minutes from Oneroa village. This luxurious home is perfect for groups, wonderfully designed so that guests can escape to separate nooks yet large enough to accommodate gatherings and celebrations. This property has all the modern conveniences as well as luxury additions to ensure your stay is effortless and comfortable.

Located adjacent to the Cable Bay Villa, the studio is a beautifully appointed modern space equipped with everything you might need for a weekend getaway. The studio is able to be booked in addition to the villa or separately.
