Wairarapa & Waiheke Vineyards Unite on Waiheke Island for an Exciting Taste Adventure on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
A collaboration from two of the top Island’s small, but mighty wine regions in this unified cellar celebration.
Prepare for a unique wine tasting experience as the Wairarapa Wine Region partners with Waiheke Island of Wine on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This is not your typical weekend of wine tasting; it’s an opportunity to explore a remarkable fusion of flavours.
Wairarapa and Waiheke Island may each contribute just 1% of New Zealand’s total wine production, but they stand out for their quality. Wairarapa is known for its cooler Northern European varieties, while Waiheke Island offers a selection of Southern European wines, providing a distinct tasting experience.
This cellar door experience is a chance to discover the passion and dedication both regions have for winemaking. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear stories about the unique challenges and successes faced by local vintners.
Throughout the day, Waiheke’s celebrated cellar doors, including Casita Miro, Te Motu, Passage Rock, Postage Stamp, Mudbrick, and more, will be joined by leading wineries from the Wairarapa. Guests will be able to taste a variety of wines and appreciate the unique qualities of each region.
A blind tasting showdown will feature winemakers from both regions tasting and evaluating each other’s creations incognito. The objective is to crown the best wine from the opposing region, highlighting the distinct characteristics that each area brings to the table. Wine Critics are invited to join us at this very special event.
This shared cellar door experience between New Zealand’s Wine Village and Wine Island showcases the excellence and creativity found in our diverse wine regions.
