Poderi Crisci

Poderi vineyard and winery lies on 7.7 hectares in a north facing slope set in a shelter amphitheatre-fashion like valley on a narrow rocky strip believed to be 30 million set years older than the rest of the Island with soil often criss-crossed with mineralise vein and stained with iron and manganese oxides. We have an Italian influence in style and a respect of nature with a minimal intervention on the wine making process .We carry out most of the vineyard work by hand. Our focus is on quality above all else. All the fruit used for Poderi Crisci wines is estate grown and selectively hand harvested. The grapes are extensively sorted in the vineyard to ensure that only the very best fruit comes into the winery, a second more intensive sorting process is then carried out prior the crushing , finish with a natural melalactic and age in percentage in French oak barrique with a 25%of new oak for the red variety This year we will have the first vintage of chardonnay that as our already acclaimed Pinot Grigio will resemble in stile the old world wine and we are anxious to se the progress of our Montepulciano and Syrah. Planning to plant more Italian variety as the Nebbiolo and Arnes are on the way
