"One of the Finest Winery Restaurants in the World"

- Wine International Magazine, London, July 2004

Te Whau Vineyard was established in 1993 by Tony, Moira and Caroline Forsyth.  The vineyard was planted in 1996 and our wines, the award-winning “The Point” and Te Whau Chardonnay were first made in 1999.

In January 2001 we opened our restaurant on the top level of the winery, perched on Te Whau Point, overlooking the Hauraki Gulf with stunning views across the Inner Gulf back to Rangitoto Island, Auckland City and beyond.

We offer fresh European-influenced New Zealand Cuisine, plus wine tastings and cellar-door wine sales.  The restaurant offers what is recognised as one of New Zealand’s finest wine lists, with particular depth in older vintages of Waiheke Island Classics as well as a wide range of the very best wines of New Zealand and the finest wines of France.

Critical Acclaim:

Cuisine Magazine, Restaurants 2006

Specially Recommended, Best of the Best, Regional Auckland.  “Tony Forsyth has gathered possibly the finest French wine list in the country and diners at his cliffside restaurant can enjoy Bordeaux at a fraction of the price you would expect to pay in Europe.  The irony is that his own Bordeaux-style blend (The Point) and Chardonnay are among New Zealand’s finest and can seldom be tasted outside the Te Whau estate, so the drinks dilemma is almost unbearable.  The food is simply yet expertly cooked and attractively presented, while Auckland fades into the distant haze across the Hauraki Gulf.  For visitors to the island of wine, this is a must-visit destination.”
